Child Support

Child support orders in California are nearly always based upon what is known as the “guideline.” The guideline is a complicated formula written into the Family Code, and is intended to establish the correct amount of money that one parent must pay to the other for the care of their children.

Attorneys and judges use specialized computer software to calculate the correct guideline amount. But when questions as to a parent’s actual earnings arise, or in cases where the time each parent spends with the children is in dispute, fairly straightforward calculations can become complex.

Purcell Stowell lawyers are well-versed in all facets of guideline child support orders, and have logged hours of courtroom time arguing child support issues before Northern California courts. If you are facing child support issues that you cannot handle on your own, our family law attorneys can help.
