On Saturday, April 23, 2016, members of our firm participated in a couple of our favorite fundraisers, some of us doing so in high-heeled shoes.

WEAVE’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

#TeamFamilyLaw included 23 men joining 944 participants who walked a mile in high heels, raising more than $312K in critical donations to support 24/7 services for local survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. WEAVE’s annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” is the largest men’s walk against gender-based violence in the world. Our Neil Forester serves on the WEAVE board of directors and was the recipient of a “Hero of Human Services” award from the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors for his work with WEAVE Legal.

Families for Early Autism Treatment (FEAT) provides free education, advocacy and support for local families living with autism. Also on April 23, about 500 friends, family members, sponsors and volunteers took action and stepped out to enjoy the 2k FEAT Walk, a nature walk and carnival that raised critically needed funds for FEAT families. Our Michelle Stowell has served on the FEAT board of directors since 2006.  As the mother of a child with autism, Michelle has a particular interest in resolving family law issues facing parents with special needs children.

Forester Purcell Stowell’s commitment to community runs deep. Sharing our time and talents to help those most in need  — both through volunteer work and pro bono legal assistance — grounds our firm culture.
